My advice to all of you out there - don't start a new relationship the week before Family Weekend. If you're not given a choice on the timing, as we so frequently are not, at least refrain from giving your newly significant other large, undisguisable hickies on both earlobes and both sides of her neck days before you're going to do familial introductions.

Actually... That's all a lie. The hickies weren't the smartest thing I ever did, but there was a rhyme and reason there and then that trumped all need for respectability later. The timing was awkward, yes, but even after a week, worth it.
